Why don’t you have a lid/cap on your 1Lt tetra pack of soy and almond milk?
Does the world really need more plastic floating around?! We didn’t think so either.
The current tetra packaging uses recyclable materials and adding a plastic lid/cap will make the carton harder to recycle. This will also add a cost that would need to be passed on.
-
What materials are the 1Lt tetra cartons made from?
We use the Tetra Brik 1000 Aseptic by Tetra Pak.
Details on the materials used can be found on the tetra site: https://www.tetrapak.com/solutions/packaging/packaging-material/materials
-
Is the 1Lt tetra pack recyclable?
Yes, the carton is technically recyclable, although is heavily dependent on the councils and states here in Australia. Making sure the TetraPak is flattened when disposing is a big help so it can make its way into the paper stream at recycling facilities so the paper fibre will be recovered for recycling.
Planet Ark have advised us that TetraPak are working on building a dedicated recycling and processing facility here in Australia. While this won’t be built overnight, the background work is in progress and TetraPak are engaging councils across Australia to assist with the implementation. This is great news!
