Amazake Scones

Amazake is a traditional sweet Japanese drink made from fermented rice that can be used in cooking or on its own.

Amazake Scones


  • 200g Flour
  • 1 Tsp Baking soda
  • ½ Tsp Baking powder (non-aluminium)
  • Pinch Sea Salt
  • 50g Raisins
  • 3 Tbsp Shredded Coconut
  • 150g Spiral Amazake
  • 4 Tbsp Bonsoy


  1. Line a baking tray with baking paper and pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees C. In a bowl, sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together.
  2. Add raisins and coconut.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the Amazake and Bonsoy together. Add this to the dry ingredients, mix well.
  4. Using your hands, roll into balls and place on baking paper leaving a gap between each. Bake scones for 15mins or until golden on top.
Serve warm or cool on there own, or with jam and butter!
